Joaquin Phoenix Parents:- On October 28, 1974, Joaquin Phoenix was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He is an American actor, producer, and activist for animal rights. He has received numerous accolades for the roles he has played in independent films, including an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award, a Grammy Award, and two Golden Globes. In 2020, The New York Times ranked him as the twelfth greatest actor of the twenty-first century on their list of the top 25 actors. He received his first Academy Award and Golden Globe Award nominations for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance as Commodus in the 2000 epic historical drama film Gladiator.

John Lee Bottom and Arlyn Dunetz, the parents of Phoenix, met in 1968. Dunetz had previously established himself in New York as a secretary and was married to an IT expert. The alternative girl, however, grew restless and, like many twenty-somethings in the 1960s, left her life behind and moved to California, the centre of the flower power movement. She decided to hitchhike across California, and it was during this time that she met the songwriter Bottom.

The family of Phoenix has long been in the public eye. His parents wed in 1969 and were members of the Children of God religious cult, touring South America with their children. When Phoenix was three, his family left the cult and relocated to Los Angeles, where he and his four siblings performed for spare change. Eventually, Iris Burton, a talent agent, discovered them.

The parents of Phoenix, who spent much of the late 1960s travelling the West Coast in a Volkswagen microbus, had become missionaries, giving birth to Rain, Joaquin, and Liberty while travelling throughout the southern United States, Venezuela, and Puerto Rico. To sing about God, Rain and River performed as street musicians. The organisation made Phoenix’s parents “the archbishops” of Venezuela and Trinidad.

In 1993, Phoenix was with his famous brother, River, partying at the Viper Room nightclub in West Hollywood, when River collapsed outside and began having convulsions. Joaquin called for assistance and paramedics arrived to revive River. However, their attempts were unsuccessful, and River was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead early on October 31. Later, Joaquin’s 911 call was recorded and repeated by the media, which further added to his sorrow.

In January 2006, while driving in the Hollywood Hills, Joaquin Phoenix went off the road. Phoenix spent two months training with the Baltimore Fire Department, putting out real flames, in preparation for the job. Before working on this film, he admitted he had a fear of heights, as he remembered “I reached the pole, looked down, and realised I couldn’t do it. However, the training reveals your anxieties and assists you in overcoming them. In the end, we resorted to rappelling down a six-story tower, which was of great assistance.”

Phoenix claimed that the inspiration for the film came from his shock that people accepted reality television programmes’ assertions that they were unscripted. By claiming to have retired from acting, he and Affleck intended to create a film that “explored celebrity, and explored the relationship between the media and the consumers and the celebrities themselves”

Phoenix’s performance elicited acclaim from critics and inspired film critic Roger Ebert to pen the following: “Knowing Johnny Cash’s albums by heart, I closed my eyes to concentrate on the soundtrack and concluded that, yes, I was listening to Johnny Cash’s voice. The closing credits reveal that Joaquin Phoenix is singing, and I was dumbfounded “.

For a variety of reasons, it is safe to say that Joaquin Phoenix is one of the most mysterious actors in Hollywood today. Joaquin and his elder brothers, River and Rain, were watching flying fish jump from the ocean when he noticed fisherman ripping their catches from their poles and angrily tossing them against nails hammered into the vessel’s wall. At that moment, he claims, he realised that the fish his parents had been feeding him in Venezuela, where they lived in a beach home and sung God’s praises in the streets, were really these poor, flailing animals being tortured to death on deck.

Phoenix prefers to let the picture to speak for itself. Phoenix states that there are several perspectives on the Arthur Fleck/Joker figure. “You might argue that this person, like everyone else, wanted to be heard and understood and to have a voice. Or, you might argue that this individual requires a disproportionate number of people to be focused on him. His happiness derives from standing in the midst of chaos.”
